While the novice show jumping was going on, cross country was also in full swing. My attention span kept jumping back and forth, and I found myself wishing I could be in two (or three or four) places at once.

The cross-country course is huge and rather demanding. Most spectators park themselves on “spectator hill” and watch the action from a distance.

My DSLR has several automatic modes. While I prefer to shoot in manual for uh, near everything now, finding the right balance of shutter speed, aperture, ISO levels and so on is challenging for me, especially when I’m out of my “studio” and faced with subjects that do not stay still.

Part of me thinks it’s “cheating” to use these modes, while another part of me is grateful for it, as it means I get to spend less time thinking and more time just shooting. I have so much to learn though.

I really liked playing with continuous shooting, and the majority of the photos I got at Rebecca Farm are sequences like this one:
